December 31 Daily Discovery - Read 2 Corinthians Chapter 6

[1] We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
[2] (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
[3] Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
[4] But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
[5] In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
[6] By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
[7] By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
[8] By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
[9] As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
[10] As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
[11] O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.
[12] Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels.
[13] Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged.
[14] Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
[15] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
[16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
[18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Working with God
God created us in such a way for us to be able to have a close relationship with him. We become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. We become servants of God by yielding our lives to Jesus Christ. God desires to work through us while working with us. Let us yield to Him and obey Him and thereby be working with him!
Walk with Him
Rom. 9:19-21
[19] Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will?
[20] Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?
[21] Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
Don't fight against what God wants to work into your life. He loves you and you can trust Him, so yield to Him.
From the beginning god desired to walk with man. He was meeting with god in the garden. Man's sin destroyed his fellowship with god.
Gen. 3:8-9
[8] And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
[9] And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
Work with Him
Walking with Jesus is working with Jesus. During the times of Christ, the typical method of becoming a disciple for a rabbi was to ask the rabbi if he would take you under his wing, so you could learn from him. Disciples were committed followers their rabbis when they were so accepted by them. (The rabbis would take the candidates after them having been rigorously taught and tested.) They would try to do everything just like the rabbi would do. They wanted to learn how they thought and what they believed and they wanted to imitate them in every way that they could.
Contrary to this, Jesus personally picked his disciples and invited them to follow Him.
He did not take them through some elaborate questioning to decide whether or not he would choose them. Those that he chose came from various backgrounds, and it is likely that none of them would have been accepted by a different rabbi. The lesson here is that anybody including you can become a successful follower of jesus, because his yoke is easy in his burden is light! Instead of a preponderance of specific interpretations on scripture passages he simplified everything to this love god with all your heart and your neighbors yourself. You and I can both do that. It is an easy yoke and it is light burden indeed.
The passage below is an invitation to discipleship. The yolk was this wooden and leather device that would join two animals of burden together so they could pull together. You would have a single ox or you would have a yoke of oxen, that is two or more pulling together.
The invitation of Jesus was this: "My yoke is easy and my burden is light".
Every true disciple of jesus christ has discovered this as a reality.
Matt. 11:28-30
[28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
