October 30 Daily Discovery - Read Job Chapter 6
This passage below is from the King James Version (ekjv.org).
Remarks from the Berean Fellowship follow the passage below.
[1] But Job answered and said,
[2] Oh that my grief were throughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together!
[3] For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.
[4] For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
[5] Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?
[6] Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?
[7] The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.
[8] Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!
[9] Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!
[10] Then should I yet have comfort; yea, I would harden myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.
[11] What is my strength, that I should hope? and what is mine end, that I should prolong my life?
[12] Is my strength the strength of stones? or is my flesh of brass?
[13] Is not my help in me? and is wisdom driven quite from me?
[14] To him that is afflicted pity should be shewed from his friend; but he forsaketh the fear of the Almighty.
[15] My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away;
[16] Which are blackish by reason of the ice, and wherein the snow is hid:
[17] What time they wax warm, they vanish: when it is hot, they are consumed out of their place.
[18] The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.
[19] The troops of Tema looked, the companies of Sheba waited for them.
[20] They were confounded because they had hoped; they came thither, and were ashamed.
[21] For now ye are nothing; ye see my casting down, and are afraid.
[22] Did I say, Bring unto me? or, Give a reward for me of your substance?
[23] Or, Deliver me from the enemy's hand? or, Redeem me from the hand of the mighty?
[24] Teach me, and I will hold my tongue: and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.
[25] How forcible are right words! but what doth your arguing reprove?
[26] Do ye imagine to reprove words, and the speeches of one that is desperate, which are as wind?
[27] Yea, ye overwhelm the fatherless, and ye dig a pit for your friend.
[28] Now therefore be content, look upon me; for it is evident unto you if I lie.
[29] Return, I pray you, let it not be iniquity; yea, return again, my righteousness is in it.
[30] Is there iniquity in my tongue? cannot my taste discern perverse things?
Don't get the Most High God and the most low god Mixed-up
The Creator is the God Most High. There is none like Him. He has no equal. He has no worthy opponent. He does have little adversaries that He allows to fufill limited roles until this current time by His Sovereign decree.
The true God is a truth teller.
The deceiver is the god most low. He has countless copies. Any of the least of the human beings that submit their lives to the Most High God and obey Him can put him to shame. We as human beings were made lower than the angels but we will end up judging them someday. The only power that the most low god has over us is by our own deception in yielding power to him. All power has been given to Jesus our Lord and Savior and King of kings and we have His power through His Spirit that He has given us. There is a place in the New Testament where satan is called the god of this world, but he is only the god of this world to those that are deceived. I am living in the world and he is not my god. Through the deception that he can bring he blinds people's minds to truth (using lies) and they end up giving him some credit and ascribing to him power. He has none.
I have no intent to throw shade upon the best man on the earth at this time whose name was Job. He is a hero of the faith. I'm not sure how much revelation of the nature of God that Job possessed, but it seems that he was not aware of those that would be adversaries of God that were allowed to operate on the earth. (In contrast, when David was surrounded by and being attacked by his enemies, he cried out to God for deliverance from his enemies. He did not blame God for what his enemies were doing.)
Job ended up blaming God for things that He did not do, sometimes accepting reports that included accusations against God. Let us never forget that Job did not have a copy of the book of Job! We are so blessed with the revelation of God that we have through the Scriptures and through His Son Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit within our hearts. There is a parial assemblance of the Word of God that we may hold in our hands but we have the Living Word of God abiding within our hearts!
Consider these Job-errors
"For the arrows of the Almighty are within me"
This is recorded in the Scripture passage from today and Job said it, but he was wrong! The arrows that he was experiencing were real but they were not from the Almighty One, they were from the everlowly one.
"The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee." - Job 1:16
No doubt there was a great fire that destroyed lives and property that belong to Job and no doubt that fire did not come from God. It was the mischievous adversary that lit the fire.
God may allow the testing of our faith but he will never tempt us to sin.
1 Pet. 1:1-7
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
[5] Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
[6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
[7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
James 1:12-16
[12] Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
[13] Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
[14] But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
[15] Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
[16] Do not err, my beloved brethren.
We know that the correct estimation of the nature of Job was that he was the best man on the earth at his time. This is according to God's own testimony regarding Job. God did allow Job to be tested through the attacks of satan but never allowed him to be tested beyond what he was able to bear. God had great confidence in Job.
All Praise and Glory be to God
1 Tim. 1:14-17
[14] And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
[15] This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
[16] Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
[17] Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
