November 20 Daily Discovery - Read Galatians Chapter 6

This passage below is from the King James Version (ekjv.org).

Remarks from the Berean Fellowship follow the passage below.

[1] Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
[2] Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
[3] For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
[4] But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
[5] For every man shall bear his own burden.
[6] Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
[7] Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
[8] For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
[9] And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
[10] As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
[11] Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
[12] As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
[13] For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
[14] But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
[15] For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
[16] And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
[17] From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
[18] Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Fulfill the King's Law

As I'm writing this I'm reminded of an interview I saw with Elvis Presley years ago. Elvis was known as the king of rock and roll. This was mentioned to Elvis and he quickly corrected the interviewer stating, "Jesus is the King, I'm just a singer." Elvis got it right there.

We live in a day of the deepest and broadest of deception, I'm writing this from the ancient land once known as the land of the plumed serpent, a previouly-claimed land that is currently called the United States of America. This land is overwhelmingly in defiance of its King.

This land promises liberty while it provides only bondage. The fleshly governors of the land are predominantly worshipers of Lucifer, even many of those that tip their hats to christ. It is unfortunate that Elvis is gone, he might have been able to have achieved some level of governance in the flesh, -- at least he knew who was King!

The King had one great law: "Love God and people".

For this Daily Discovery we will focus upon one thing. It is the one thing that is mentioned in this passage that is connected with fulfilling the law of christ. The great king that we serve was not known for being rigid when it came to the law. Jesus christ always looked more deeply into the spirit of the law. Our king is a great king of mercy and compassion he is not all about authority.

If you think that you live under a democracy or a republic, that is only a lesser, localized fleshly government. You live under a monarchy, and Jesus is the King. He is above every government on the earth and He reigns. If we are to be faithful subjects to His government we will follow His law. His law is written in our hearts: We must love God with all that we are and all that we have. We should love our fellow man just like we love ourselves.

Help to Restore broken people

Of course the focus of the text is spiritual. If we see someone that is overtaken in a fault restore them. The word for restore is the same word used when the fisherman were mending their nets it would be the same as restoring a broken bone. When people are struggling spiritually, if they have been trapped by cords of sin, in love we must do what we can that they need to be restored. What we must do depends upon the nature of their break. Jesus Christ was always tender with those that were hurting and always sought to mend them. He is our example.

Matt. 12:20

A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

John 8:1-11

[1] Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
[2] And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
[3] And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
[4] They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
[5] Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
[6] This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
[7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
[8] And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
[9] And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
[10] When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
[11] She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Let's see how Jesus mended this poor woman.

TheJewish scribes and pharisees would have stoned her, offering her no mercy, because the law provided none. There was no provision in the law for her to repent and confess of her sins and bring an offering to the temple for a temporary covering. Of course, Jesus knew the law better than they did, since He is the one that wrote it. However, He did not interpret and apply it as they did; He interpreted and applied it correctly. Jesus never violated the Old Covenant law --  not even once. The Sadducees and scribes and Pharisees did everything that they could to catch Him in a violation of the law of moses, but they could not. However, Jesus would routinely violate their interpretations of it, often making a point to do so.

As a result of this encounter, there were no accusers left to point the finger at her and demand her death. Jesus did not want her to die; neither did he want her to be living as an adulteress. Jesus saw her as broken and He was the Great Healer. As Christians, we have the heart of the Healer living within us, and we should be seeking to heal the spiritually broken as He did. Let's see how He did this.

He did not Condemn her for her Fault

It is most likely that her accusers were all guilty of the same sin of which they were accusing her, but they were not going to openly confess it; they had managed to conceal it. The only One there that could have cast a stone at her was Jesus. Once all of the accusers had left, Jesus asked her, "Who is accusing you?" and she answered, "No man, Lord". Jesus, the sinless Son of God, could have said,  "But I know that you are guilty of this and therefore you will die". Since He was God, He did not even need for her to be judged by men with at least two witnesses.
I think this is understood when he said neither do I condemn you.

After all, Jesus did not come to the world to condemn it; he came to save it.

If we have a spirit of condemnation in our hearts, the source of that is not the heart of the King.

He did not Condone her for her Fault

He did nothing that would make her think that he approved of her lifestyle in any shape or form. He did not brush her sin away. He did nothing to diminish it. When her accusers presented her to Jesus for her condemnation, Jesus said nothing to them or her that is recorded that would indicate that He questioned whether or not she was guilty.

He did Correct her for her Fault

There was no one left to condemn her and Jesus told her, "Neither do I condemn thee" and then He followed with this charge, "Go and sin no more."

He restored her in a spirit of meekness.
