November 22 Daily Discovery - Read 1 Timothy Chapter 6
This passage below is from the King James Version (ekjv.org).
Remarks from the Berean Fellowship follow the passage below.
[1] Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
[2] And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
[3] If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
[4] He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
[5] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
[6] But godliness with contentment is great gain.
[7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
[8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
[11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
[12] Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
[13] I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
[14] That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
[15] Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
[16] Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
[17] Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
[18] That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
[19] Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
[20] O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
[21] Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Oppositions of False Science
During the time of the first century church paul wrote to timothy and one of his admonitions was for him to avoid the oppositions of science falsely so-called. It is not a new thing for man to assert truth claims in opposition to the word of god. During this time of the early church science or knowledge was largely based upon logic and reason. Modern day pagans updated that to base what they called science upon experimentation.
I do not know if this is still taught in the government controlled education system as well as others but I was taught that there were six steps to the scientific method, beginning with observation. It seems that there has been a reversion back to the former system of epistemology which is based upon man's logic and reason and does not rely upon being able to observe and test a theory.
There is more than one way of knowing something is true. The primary method of knowing is being told the truth by the original, perfectly authoritative source. The secondary method would be by observation and testing which does make sense.
Epistemology is the branch of philosophy that studies the nature, origin, scope, and limits of human knowledge often described as the "theory of knowledge," it investigates how we know what we know and how we separate true knowledge from mere opinion or belief.
Man's Invention versus God's Revelation
Why is the earth as it is today?
Man has an answer for that that has been nearly universally disseminated over the past 200 years but it is not new we actually have a record of this even during the time of the New Testament.
Uniformitarianism is the scientific principle that the natural laws and processes operating in the universe today have always operated in the past and apply everywhere. In geology, this concept is often summarized by the phrase "the present is the key to the past." It means that Earth's physical features—such as valleys, rock layers, and canyons—were shaped by slow, ongoing processes like erosion and sedimentation over vast periods of time, rather than by sudden, supernatural catastrophes.
God has an answer for this as well, as recorded in the Scriptures. He foretold that he would destroy the earth with water and He foretold that He would destroy the earth with fire. Neither of these distractions were absolute annihilation, because in both cases the world was to be restarted afterwards. Both were judgments that ended ages and another age began after them.
Catastrophism is a geologic doctrine that changes in the earth's crust have in the past been brought about suddenly by physical forces operating in ways that cannot be observed today.
If you were to attend a geology class at university in any nation today you would be taught about uniformitarianism and catastrophism, the first being the truth and the second being a fable.
2 Pet. 3:1-7
[1] This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
[2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
[3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
[6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
[7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
The worldwide water catastrophe
When we think of something that is high we think of the mountains when we think of something that is low we think of the seas. Both start at the level earth.
What is called sea level is where the seas connect directly to the earth without overflowing it. This is what you observe at a beach under the ordinary conditions. There are times where the winds may raise the level of waves of the sea or an earthquake may cause a tsunami that raises the water higher to crash upon the land, but we are told in the scriptures that god has set the bounds for the waters the lands.
The mountains are extruded from it and the seas are depressed within it.
People that claim that everything continues today like it has for eons and eons of time, the Scripture says in 2nd Peter 3, are willingly ignorant. We will cover this thing of the will in the next major point. The will is the volition. I t is the determination that extends from the human heart. It is not a result of intellect or intellectual reason. It is the result of an emotional rejection of an obvious reality.
From sciencefocus.com
"If you scaled mount everest, you'd probably be surprised to find fossilised marine creatures – including trilobites, crinoids and brachiopods – on earth’s highest peak"
We know that the record of the Scriptures tells us that this is so because when God judged the earth with water, it covered even the tallest of the mountains. No truth of God is going to go without a lie from the god of this world to oppose it. He's going to tell you what really happened, according to him, what God said was false. Read the linked article above and you're certain to find a fairly complete explanation of why this is so, according to man, that is science that has been falsely called science.
The worldwide fire catastrophe
A large majority of professing Christianity today will acknowledge a previous destruction of the earth by a flood of water.
- This one was recorded in the book of Genesis
- affirmed in 1st peter chapter 3 in the New Testament
However, the same New Testament passage tells us that God is going to destroy the earth again with fire. It is obvious at the time of the writing of 1 Peter this had not yet happened, but that was well over a thousand years ago. Depending upon how much confidence you place in man's version of the chronological record maybe 2, 000 years ago. I doubt that that is accurate.
The fire judgment and intense heat would be able to be compared perhaps to the eruption of Mount Saint Helens in the 80's, resulting in a pyroclastic flow: an avalanche of hot gas ash and rock fragments rushing down a volcano during interruption reaching temperatures over 1, 000° celsius per hour. These extremely destructive flows flatten and bury everything in their path making them the deadliest volcanic hazard. The eruption of mount St. Helens destroyed approximately150,000 acres which is about 235 sq. miles of land.
Is it possible that things would grow back after such a fiery, heat event? It is not simply possible it is viewable. The vegetation has recovered the animals have returned, and life goes on.
The accepted story of man was that life began return within a few weeks!
I believe that the New Testament reveals that this fire judgment of the earth would happen before the return of Jesus to establish an earthly kingdom that would last a thousand years. Since Jesus promised to return to the earth before His generation passed, to rule His kingdom, this fire judgment is in our past as well. Like the obvious elements of the flood there should be obvious elements of a fire judgment that is worldwide. It is there to see for anybody that has eyes to see!
The heat would melt minerals. Man-made brick or man cut stones or minerals. How hot does it have to be for common bricks to melt? I would suggest that that would require fervent heat. Do we see any evidence of melted minerals including mountains brick or quarry stone structures around the earth. The answer is yes it is only visible everywhere on the earth.
However, the earth would recover from this, and there would be a cleanup from it that would be managed by the One who is going to establish His kingdom. He was going to be returning to a parched earth.

Intellect Versus Volition
Peter says they were willingly ignorant. David said the fool has said in his heart there is no God. There is no such thing as intellectual atheists, only emotional ones. To become such a fool requires an outright rejection of God from the heart. It happens when a heart that rejects God is in a battle against the intellect of a man. This volitional determination will win over what the intellect is able to perceive and reason.
It is impossible to reason with an individual that is unreasonable. When a person has established such a deep emotional conviction it does not matter how much evidence you show them to something that opposes how they feel, they're going to stick with what they feel.
So we pray for such persons. We plead with the God of heaven to be merciful to them and to soften their hearts so they can receive the truth. Their minds have become blinded by the god of this world.
There are many in christianity today that hold the belief that jesus has already returned and that he has already ruled for a thousand years and that this is all been hidden from us by the great liar. Such believe that after the 1, 000 year kingdom satan was released again and would be allowed to deceive the nations they believe that we are living in this time. This is what I believe as well.
My conviction for believing this stems from the Word of God -- the very words of Jesus Himself. He clearly promised to return before the end of His generation and that all of the things that were prophesied concerning this fiery judgment and the establishment of His physical kingdom on earth would begin. We do not have a record of this because we do not have a Third Testament.
-
Secular history does not record it because it is controlled by the deceiver that was released from his pit at the conclusion of the end of the thousand year reign of Christ and His saints on the earth.
It was prophesied to happen in the New Testament but it was fulfilled after the New Testament was completed. (about 70 A.D.) We believe this by faith regardless of what the world says: whether it is outside of what is called the church or if it comes from within it.
I encourage people to have a very specific time-focus and that is to focus upon now.
