October 12 Daily Discovery - Read 1 John Chapter 5
This passage below is from the King James Version (ekjv.org).
Remarks from the Berean Fellowship follow the passage below.
[1] Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
[2] By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
[3] For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
[4] For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
[5] Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
[6] This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
[7] For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
[8] And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
[9] If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
[10] He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
[11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
[12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
[13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
[14] And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
[15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
[16] If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
[17] All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
[18] We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
[19] And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
[20] And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
[21] Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
The Gift of Eternal Life in God's Son
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
When we think about the disciples who were later named by Jesus as apostles there are some that stand out from the others because they spent more time in the inner circle of Jesus' disciples and we know more about them from the scriptures. Peter would no doubt stand out as being the general leader of the apostolic group, and the Lord did point him out specifically on more than one occasion.
When we think of the apostle Paul, we see a man that is very special indeed. From being confronted face to face with Jesus Christ before he became a follower; while he was on the road to Damascus to persecute Christians, to becoming the most prominent of all of the apostles in the church. He would certainly be regarded as the apostle having the greatest number of revelations as well as some of the most significant.
When we consider the apostles John we think of him as the apostle of love. Love was emphasized in his own life as a disciple of Jesus, in the gospel record that he wrote, and prominently in his three epistles.
However Peter was not the first pope of the Roman Catholic church. The Roman catholic religion is an apostate copy false of Christianity.
The Roman religion as it has existed in the past few hundred years has claimed to be the church universal that Jesus had established that would rule the earth as His kingdom.
The nature of the kingdom of God is not simple. I believe the kingdom of God started when the King got here, and it has continued ever since. I do believe that there was a millennial component to the kingdom that is in our past, in which the resurrected saints ruled on the earth for 1, 000 years. The church of Rome tries to claim that history as belonging to them, and it does not! The true history of the church that Jesus established would match what we know from what the Scriptures themselves teach us, not tradition. For example, Jesus did not put a priesthood in His church as an office. Check the book of Ephesians. We are however priests and kings of Jesus Christ in the spiritual sense. We intermediate between God and men -- making us priests; and we are to have leadership and authority in the earth making us kings.

If you Love God you will Love His Children
"Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments."
We are a family after all. In any normal family you will love your siblings as well as loving your parents.. Anything apart from this is by it's very definition dysfunctional. And although this may be the case in some human families it is never the case in god's family. If you do not love your brother in god's family you do not love god either. Period!
If you Love God, you will Do what He Says
"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."
Jesus personally and directly said the same thing.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. - John 14:15
Keeping jesus commandments bring delight to the soul.
His commandments do not bring grief. If you are feeling oppression as a result of Jesus' demands while following Christ, there is something wrong. His yoke is easy. His burden is light. It is not heavy.
Matt. 11:28-30
[28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
